Burn A DVD

Burn a DVD on your computer

In this example, I'm going to teach you how to burn a DVD on a Mac.

To Burn a DVD, in this example, I will be using an Apple MacBookPro which has the Leopard Operating System.

Open up the "finder" on your Mac. Insert a blank DVD into the DVD slot. On the left hand side of the finder window you will see your untitled DVD and the burn symbol beside it. Right click the untitled DVD and then click "get info".

Under the name and extension, type in the name of what you want your burned DVD to be and click enter.

Go back to your finder icon on your desktop and right click once again. Open up a new finder window. Place both windows side-by-side.

What you are going to do now before you can burn a DVD, is to drag files from one finder window into the burn dvd area. It's very simple to do.

Once you have dragged all the files you want, it's time to burn a DVD.

Click the little burn icon in the finder window. A new burn dvd window will pop up. You will have an option once again to change the name of the disc. You will also have the option to change the burn speed.

Click the burn DVD button.

Once again a small progress window will appear indicating that your MacBook is burning the DVD. It will normally state a percentage of completion. Depending upon the speed of the burn you selected, is how long the process takes.

It's a good idea to back up your files that do not have to be sitting on your hard drive taking up space. The easiest and cheapest way to free up some hard drive space is to just burn a DVD of your extra files and store them until you need them.
